An about me page is such a trivial thing to consider when writing. They always say when you meet someone to ask them questions about themselves because people love to talk about themselves. I utilize that advice so much that when it comes time for me to talk about myself I usually shift the conversation back to the other person.

What I will share about me is that I love to read. I’ve always loved transporting myself into another era, the 1920’s Golden Age being my favorite. I associate the 20’s as being the greatest era of all time. You had F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, and Coco Chanel. One of my favorite movies, Midnight In Paris, aligns perfectly with this thought process calling it “Golden Age Thinking” which is the erroneous notion that a different time period is better than the one one’s living in. I could easily agree to this although I can’t live without certain things that are available in the present!

In addition to being an avid reader I also love clothing and fashion and everything in between. I went to the Illinois Institute of Art for Fashion Design and had every intention of going out and becoming a designer until….student loans started coming in. That 6 month grace period to find a job is anything short of “grace”. Before I knew it my sewing machine was collecting dust and I was working 40+hr weeks to make ends meet (still am). Add to that living in Chicago and trying to have a social life while also getting 7-8hrs of sleep per night and maintaining a healthy diet? Jokes on you.
